The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is your opportunity to have your say on our work. Find out about voting on resolutions and elections.
Please note that the 2024 AGM will take place on 2 November 2024. Voting in this year's AGM will open in September.
You'll need to vote on our elections in advance of the AGM, but you can choose to vote on the resolutions in advance too. Voting will open in September.
Have your say by voting online. From September, you'll be able to visit the online voting platform and enter your membership details, which you can find on your membership card.
Once voting opens in September, have your say by sending your completed postal voting form to Civica Election Services.
If you plan to attend the meeting in person or virtually, you can vote on the resolutions on the day. However, you'll still need to vote in the elections before the deadline either online or by post. Only the resolutions are voted on at the meeting itself.
This year's AGM is taking place on 2 November 2024 at the Civic Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Members are welcome to join the meeting in person or virtually, but you'll need to register to attend in advance, which will open from September.
There are a limited number of in-person spaces available and these will be allocated by ballot and confirmed ahead of the meeting. You'll still be able to join virtually if you can't attend in person, and all attendees will be able to ask questions on the resolutions and vote on the day.
However you choose to vote, there are three different types of vote you can use to have your say.
You can cast a specified vote for the resolutions and in the elections. This means you're directing the proxy (chair of the AGM) how to vote on your behalf at the meeting. You can do this by selecting 'for', 'against' or 'abstain' for the resolutions and by selecting your preferred election candidates.
If you'd like to specify that your vote supports the Board of Trustees' position on the resolutions and the Council's recommendations for the elections, you can use the 'quick vote' option.
You can cast a discretionary vote for the resolutions, but not in the elections. This means you're directing the proxy (chair of the AGM) to vote on the resolutions as they see fit. You can do this by selecting the 'discretionary' box.
You can find more details about voting in your AGM booklet, which will be online from September.
